The Mum Chronicles

Your Story Your Pace

Every mum’s journey looks different.
Some chapters feel calm and joyful… others feel tangled, overwhelming, or stuck.

Wherever you are right now — there’s a place to begin.

The Story we keep telling ourselves

To the Mum who holds it all together

You are deeply committed. To your children. To your job. To the people who rely on you every single day.

You show up.
You keep things moving.
You make it work — somehow, always.

And somewhere along the way, without really choosing it…you learned a quiet truth:

The only way to keep everything spinning… is to put yourself at the very bottom of the list. Not ignored. Not forgotten.
Just… postponed.

For later. For when things settle. For when there’s more time. For when life feels less full.

The Stories We Tell Ourselves

We don’t usually say it out loud, but many mums carry the same inner story:

Once everything is done, I’ll rest.
When the children are older, it will be different.
When work slows down, I’ll have space for me again.
Just get through this season… then it will ease.

And so we carry on.

Doing. Holding. Managing. Coping.

Until one day…
you pause for just a moment and realise:

There is always another “once this is done.”

Another term. Another demand. Another reason to wait.

And the rest you promised yourself?
The space you thought would come later?

It never quite arrives in the way you imagined.

A Gentle Invitation

This isn’t about doing more.  It’s about gently noticing the story you’ve been living inside.

Because your story isn’t broken.
It’s just been written around everyone else’s needs for a long time.

And it might be time to ask:

  • What would change if I didn’t always come last?
  • What am I carrying that no one else can see?
  • What am I hoping will magically ease… without anything changing?
  • Where am I waiting for “later” to finally become “now”?

Welcome to the Mum Chronicles

Welcome to the Mum Chronicles

This space was created for exactly this moment.

For the mum who is capable, caring, and constantly holding it all together…
but quietly wondering if it always has to feel this full.

Mum Chronicles is not about fixing you.

It’s about giving you space to:

  • hear your own thoughts again
  • understand the patterns you’ve slipped into
  • and gently begin to rewrite the story you’re living inside

Sometimes that starts with a deep breath and a full reset.
Sometimes it starts with one small, focused shift.

There is no right entry point — only your point.

Which chapter needs your attetnion?

The Beauty of Your Journey

There’s no “right” place to start.
No perfect path to follow.

You might begin with a reset…
Then step into deeper work…
Or simply take it one chapter at a time.

This is your story — and you get to choose how it unfolds.

Nobody else understands how exhausting it is to feel this stuck

One session. One shift. A whole new direction.

This is a focused coaching session where we gently explore that one thread.

Finding yourself

"I woke up this morning on International Women's Day ready for my last coaching session with Lorna. Reflecting back over the last 6 months I could not be in a more different position than the one I am in today. Physically I am in better health and in a new home, emotionally I feel stronger and more  confident than ever and mentally I am ready for the next chapter of my life. As a woman in my mid forties I am coping with all that comes with that, being squeezed between all the generations of my family, the expectations as a wife and mother not to mention work and business. In between all of that I lost myself and what I wanted and felt passionately about. I had lost my voice and my hope.

Lorna has helped me to reclaim all the parts of me, through coaching I have learned to accept myself in all the different ways that I show up in the world and how to draw on the various energies that are required in each given situation. I now communicate my needs more clearly and appropriately and I feel happier and trust myself more than I could have imagined.

Thank you Lorna for sharing your wisdom and these wonderful coaching tools with me, I can’t wait to tackle what is next on the horizon!"

Emma, mum of 3 , West England

Parenting

“Lorna, I honestly cannot find the words to express how grateful we all are for the coaching sessions. The new skills and ideas you give us work well for all of us and we are a better family because of them! Parenthood is the hardest thing we've have ever had to do and these new skills give us hope...and we need hope to enjoy this process!! Lorna is truly wonderful”

Helen Hughes, Mum of 5 Newcastle

Work/Life Balance

My coaching sessions with Lorna were transformational on a personal and professional basis. I was at a crossroads in life following divorce and life as a single parent with two teenage children. I work fulltime and have very little headspace, time or energy to prioritise myself or my well-being.

Through the sessions with Lorna I was able to realise where I was spending energy unnecessarily and how to direct it to more purposeful fulfilling work. I was able to let go of a lot of guilt and feeling of insecurities which had been bottled up for years.

My self esteem and confidence was low and I tended to sacrifice a lot for the kids. The coaching program helped me to identify my areas of strength and weaknesses. I was able to pull out my weak areas and strengthen them with practical techniques which were applicable within my home life and very realistically within work.

I manage a team and was able to use skills gained from coaching to support my team and overcome challenging conversations and situations in the work environment. I was able to deal with challenging team members in a supportive way without losing respect and still achieving my objectives. My team are all completely different personalities and I now understand how I am able to deal with them in a more person specific manner.  Lorna helped me face my huge issues around financial affairs and gave me practical examples of how I could take ownership of these concerns and deal with them. This is ongoing but have made significant steps towards facing fears and have worked through the majority of my issues but significantly know where to go to complete them"

CM, mum of two NHS, west of Scotland

Pull up a chair.

Because every mum deserves a place where she doesn’t have to have it all together

Many women come to me feeling like they’ve quietly lost connection along the way.... Not in a dramatic way.
Just in the slow, everyday way life unfolds.

It gets busy, Schedules stop lining up, Plans get postponed… and then postponed again.

We say “soon” a lot.

And before we know it, connection starts to feel like something we used to have.

Socialising becomes:

  • fitting in a quick chat at pick-up
  • standing on the sidelines of activities
  • or mostly connecting through our children’s lives instead of our own

Because motherhood was never meant to be done in isolation.

And sometimes the thing that makes the biggest difference…
is simply finding your people again.

This is our slightly tongue-in-cheek corner of the world…
where motherhood is reported as it really is — not the polished version.

Where some days feel like breaking news…
and others feel like you deserve a small award just for getting through them.

A Final Reflection

If you paused for a moment today…

Where would you place yourself in your story?

Are you:

  • holding everything together but feeling stretched thin?
  • waiting for a “later” that never quite arrives?
  • quietly wondering when your needs will get a turn?

You don’t need to burn everything down to change your story.

Sometimes you just need a new chapter.
