Somewhere between the school reports and the Sunday night tears, you've started to wonder if the system just wasn't built for your child.
You're right. It wasn't.
"The school says they're fine. But I know my child, and they are not fine."
"They're so bright at home. I don't understand why school feels so impossible for them."
"We finally got a diagnosis. Now what? Nobody seems to know what to actually do."
"They hold it together all day. They fall apart the moment they walk through our door."
"I just want them to believe in themselves. I want to see that spark come back."
Does this sound like your child?
They dread Mondays — or Tuesdays, or all of it — and it's getting harder to hide. They say they're stupid — even though you can see, every day, that they're anything but. They've been told they're fine — but you know something isn't right, and you trust that feeling. They've had a diagnosis — and now you're wondering: what do we actually do with this? They're holding it together at school — and falling apart the moment they get home. They're somewhere in between — and you just know they deserve more than this.
These aren't signs of a child who isn't trying. They're signs of a child who is trying so hard — inside a system that wasn't designed for how their mind works.
The Square P.E.G.S Approach exists for exactly your child. And for the parent who has been holding this worry, often alone, for longer than anyone knows.
You know your child. You know they're clever. You know they're kind, and funny, and full of ideas. And you watch them walk out the door every morning carrying a weight that no child should have to carry.
Maybe they cry on Sunday nights. Maybe they say they're stupid — and mean it. Maybe they've stopped putting their hand up. Maybe they'll do anything, absolutely anything, to avoid going in.
You've talked to the school. You've read the articles. You've tried everything you can think of. And still, something isn't right.
Here's what we know: there is nothing wrong with your child. There is something wrong with how the world has been asking them to learn.
The Square P.E.G.S Approach was built for children like yours. Children with spiky, brilliant, uneven minds — who don't fit the mould the system was designed for. Children who need someone to finally see how they're wired, celebrate what makes them extraordinary, and give them the tools to thrive on their own terms.
Not next year. Not when things get worse. Now.

Between us, we bring together over four decades of experience in occupational therapy, coaching, curricular support and child development.
But the reason we built this wasn't a CV. It was a child.
We built Square P.E.G.S because we kept meeting children who were being failed — not because they weren't trying, but because the support available didn't start where they actually were. It started where the system expected them to be.
Every child we work with gets us — personally. Our time, our attention, and everything we know. This will never be a factory.
— Lorna & Jac, The Wee Coaching Company

As a mum holding this worry for your child it takes a toll and its right when we say put your own face mask on first - when you look after yourself you have more than enough to give others

The Square P.E.G.S Approach is designed to nurture children’s natural abilities by shaping learning environments around them, rather than expecting them to fit into them. We unlock their potential and celebrate their growth at every stage.
The Square P.E.G.S Approach stands for Pause. Explore. Grow. Shine. This framework creates a safe space for children to steady themselves, discover who they are, and thrive.
Pause
By prioritising connection and co-regulation, we meet the child exactly where they are, both emotionally and energetically, creating safety as the foundation for learning.
Explore
We build self-awareness by encouraging children to recognise their feelings, needs, and starting point. Supporting them in advocating for themselves and identifying what helps them feel ready and supported.
Grow
We focus on the next doable step. Using a strengths-based, solution-focused approach, children develop skills, strategies, and beliefs about how they learn best, without tipping into overwhelm.
Shine
We celebrate progress - especially the small steps.
Their personal success is recognised, self-confidence is reinforced, and children begin to see themselves as capable learners.

One-to-one support that starts with your child — their learning profile, their strengths, their worries — and builds from there. No worksheets. No one-size-fits-all.
Small, safe groups where children build confidence in the subjects that feel hardest — not through pressure, but through discovering how they learn best.
Beliefs, courage and school worries
Story-based coaching that gently shifts the story your child tells about themselves — from "I can't" to "I haven't yet — but I'm working it out."
Know yourself, trust yourself
Helping your child understand how their brain works, what helps them focus, what drains them, and how to ask for what they need. Life skills that last.
In this session, we’ll gently walk through what’s been happening, help you understand your child more deeply, and give you clear, supportive next steps —

How it works
We've made this as easy as possible to begin — because when you've reached the point of looking for this kind of support, the last thing you need is more barriers.
Talk to Lorna or Jac — personally. Tell us about your child. We'll ask a few questions, listen properly, and be honest about whether and how we can help. No scripts. No sales pitch.
If we're the right fit, we'll put together a plan built specifically around your child — which sessions, which format, which pace. You'll know exactly what to expect before we begin.
Sessions are warm, calm and child-led. We never push. We never shame. We simply show up, consistently, as the person who sees your child clearly — and believes in them completely.
Sessions are available online and in person, in a warm, calm environment where your child can finally exhale. Delivered personally by Lorna and Jac — an Occupational Therapist and a specialist in curricular confidence — who between them have spent years sitting with children exactly like yours.
Let's have a conversation.

When I met Catriona, I could tell that her energy was low. Rather than pushing straight into learning, we began with a Pause. Sharing a snack and gently reconnecting, I matched her pace, creating space for her to settle.
As I moved into Explore, I became curious about her day. She described feeling overwhelmed and told me she “just didn’t understand decimals.” When we scaled her readiness for maths, she placed herself at a 3. This gave us a clear, honest starting point.
Noticing a presentation on her laptop, I invited her to share it. Catriona lit up as she explained a small business she had created with friends that sold glass ducks. We began role-playing customer scenarios, calculating prices and totals in a way that felt meaningful to her.
During Grow, I quietly observed her strategies, reflecting them back and introducing a simple method for working out change. She applied this naturally within the game, building confidence without pressure.
When she mentioned saving for a £15 cuddly toy, we explored how many ducks she would need to sell – it was a lot! We then widened the conversation to include other sources of money. She realised she could reach her goal by summer.
By the end, her energy and motivation for maths had risen to an 8.
In Shine, we celebrated not just the maths, but her resilience, creativity, and willingness to re-engage. She chose to continue with decimals, but this time with confidence.

"When I first started my sessions with Lorna, I was mentally in a bad head space; school work, extra-curricular activities and the pressures of sixth year were all starting to take their toll. I was struggling to clear the thoughts in my head and focus on getting any work or revision done. My relationship was very strained and although I didn't realise, looking back I realise how unhappy we were, which I have since changed and we are now very strong and we are going from strength to strength. I would shut myself in my room and not talk to anyone choosing to immerse myself in "trying" to study. Then I met Lorna. Following around 3 months of sessions and a couple of months of time to grow, I am so so happy. I have so much more confidence in myself and my abilities. I ended my school year on a high (AAB in my exams) and haven't stopped smiling the whole summer . I can't remember the last time I had a panic attack, and I'm about to move out and go to university - tackling my comfort zone head on. Every day I wake up, and am smiling - ready to take on the day and all the challenges it throws at me.
As many thank yous as is possible to give! Without Lorna there is no doubt I would be where I am now. Everything she did, no matter how little, has helped me to become a much better person. It makes me quite emotional to look back and see how far I have come. I know now that there is nothing I can't do and there is no doubt that I wouldn't be standing with my head held as high as it is thanks to Lorna."

Life coaching is a process in which a coach helps individuals identify and achieve their personal goals. The coach works with the client to create a plan of action and provides support and guidance throughout the process.
Life coaching can help individuals improve their self-awareness, develop new skills, create a plan for achieving their goals, and overcome obstacles that may be holding them back from success.
Life coaching sessions can vary in length, but typically last between 30 minutes to an hour. The frequency of sessions can also vary depending on the needs of the client.
